Gruffydd

I watched her disappear before me. It was like she had just evaporated into thin air. I wiped a tear from my cheek and realized that this would probably be the last time I ever saw Merryll. I went to my pile of books and leafed through the pages. Now that Killwedd has been defeated, I have no greater purpose. I stopped on a page and tried to believe what could not be true. There were legends of the future, legends that couldnt be true. Legends that Merryll would die. The book spoke of someone called Saffir. And the stream of time being used again out of hatred. I shut the book calmly.
These are lies, they have to be, I mumbled to myself but if they arent then Merryll shouldnt have gone back. Emlyn has deluded her, he is all she sees,
I decided not to take what is happening too seriously. It is just like I had said; sometimes history can be changed to the writers liking. I walked to the other side of the room and realized, my greater purpose had been found. Killwedd it must be something to do with Killwedd His castle it would be unguarded now. That is where I have to go.

I walked off solemnly to the castle and with each step I disliked him more and more. Hes dead and yet he is still going to be able to kill her. I reached the water and waded across carefully. The water seemed thick and also amazingly dark for water. Something had happened and I knew this was the place I had to be. My robes flowed behind me and caused large ripples through the cold, dark water. I could feel the sand through my shoes. I felt the sand through my shoe? I must have worn through them as I walked across because I had been walking for so long. The water got thicker and darker with every step. But then I stopped. There was something around me. Something wriggling. I stepped very slowly and quietly. And then it leaped right out of the water. But it was just a snake. I tried to avoid it incase it was poisonous. The snake had blood streaming from its mouth. I took a step and found out. It was the Gryffen. But it wasnt whole. It was in chunks. I gulped and ducked under the water. I couldnt see everything was blood red under here. A shiver ran through me wondering what could do this to him. It was disgusting I would turn away but I knew that this is why I was here. Something drew me here, something with power. I continued walking to the castle, it is only a little further ahead I reassured myself. It wasnt. I walked for at least an hour carefully avoiding the chunks of the Gryffen. I kept my head high, all the time on the lookout of the thing that did this. I reached the castle and marveled in it magnificence. I pushed open the large metal gates with great difficulty. They had rusted a little because of the sea breeze that flowed through it. Once inside the walls I felt a lot less safe. The wind blew through making whistling sounds to be heard all around. There was a hole in the floor, which used to be hidden by a wooden stall but was now wide open. I was dark inside so I grabbed a torch on the wall and lit it with a simple spell. Once inside I could see a cage completely rusted and had a hole broken through it. A girl stepped through the shadows.
It was foolish for you to come here, she said. She had long blond hair and was dressed in a flowing green robe. There was something in her eyes that reminded me of someone. I couldnt think of whom.
Dont you remember me? she said. I stared at her further without her noticing.
Im the one who is gonna kill Merryll just like the legend says,
So certain? I smiled smugly knowing that if I did she would lose her edge And if you were to face her and lose? What will the legends say about you then?
That cant happen and it wont! she shouted. Magic hit me and I went flying across the room and hit the wall, then something clicked in my head and I knew who she was. She looked just like Killwedd and the glint, was of hatred and anger. She recited a few words and her body collapsed on the floor. I knew what the words meant. But how could she do it? You cant just send your self off onto the stream of time. I continued to the back of the tunnel and found a book. I looked through it and read about how Killwedd had a sister. A sister he had brought up unnoticed by everyone. Underground. I bet she had never even seen the light of day, the feel of the breeze, the feel of sand and water beneath your feet. I remembered the great beast now laying in pieces and though. But she had, she was the one who had done that to Killwedd. If that girl can do that to her own brother then I am horrified as to what he will do to Merryll. I had to go warn her. I walked back to the cave all the time thinking about how I could get it to reach 1992. I can only hope that I reach her in time. Mere seconds away from the cave I found a way. It was obvious, but only if you thought about it for 3 hours, which I did. If the cave sends you to the time when it was made with the gift, I would just have to get it made again with the gift in the future. This has only a small chance to work, but if it does it can change lives. I carved some words onto the side of the rock. When the person with the gift approached it the magic would be renewed and I would be sent to that time. I mumbled a few words under my breath. Erath

I walked inside and found a hollow feeling. I got inside and looked around hoping that Merryll would find that note on the side of the cave.
Hey there Gruffydd, didnt think I would be seeing you for a long time
I turned around it was Merryll and a boy I could only imagine is Emlyn. I could feel a second soul in him also, a soul I had known before.
So you are the great Gruffydd, he said.
That I am. Merryll, you are in great danger! A girl I believe to be Kilwedds secret sister is coming here to kill you, I informed them.
How can she come here? said Emlyn trying to grasp how suddenly I had appeared and informed them both of impending danger.
She is very powerful. She sent herself upon the stream of time and somehow she can control when she gets off, I said.
Thats impossible, how can Killwedd have a secret sister? And how do you know this? Merryll asked.
Killwedd must have kept her in a last effort to kill you while youre here incase he fails to do the job back in our time. As for knowing this, I found Killwedd-
What do you mean you found him, I killed him, Merryll interjected.
I found him I delayed In pieces,
Eeew! said Emlyn and Merryll simultaneously.
I went to the castle and there she was. I saw her send herself off onto the stream of time, I said
I understand where you are coming from but how can you be sure that she can get off whenever she wants? Emlyn asked.
I believe she is corrupted by Killwedd and the gift and that the dark side of the gift can give great power but is often very uncontrollable. I also believe that she is here, right now, even possibly as someone you know, but whatever you do dont be afraid to kill someone you know or love. They may well be pure evil,
Well on that happy note, I am sorry to tell you I have to go to my mums dinner party, Emlyn said
Me too. Bye Gruffydd! I hope we see each other again, Merryll said as she waved goodbye. They both disappeared from view.
You know where to find me, I whispered under my voice.
