Holtz was born in the late 1800's. He tracked down Angel and Darla for many years, he seemed to be the only one who could cause any damage upon them. Angel and Darla thought the best plan to get revenge and have a bit of fun, they killed Holtz's wife and son and then sired his only daughter. Holtz was forced to push his firstborn into the sunlight and kill her. Holtz cowered back in his fight against Angel and Darla only to be faced by Sarahjhan, a time and dimension traveling demon. Sarahjhan brought Holtz to 2002 about 100 years later. Darla had twbecome pregnant in this time (with Angel's baby) and Angel had gained a soul (which had led him upon many exciting journeys). The baby was born in a true act of kindness by Darla, she steaked herself to allow the child to be born. Holtz then started recruiting an army to kill Angel and his baby (Connor), the second in command was Justine (a vampire hunter who had no hope, she lost her twin sister to a vampire). One day Wesley took Connor out because he had been researching and had found out that "the father will kill the son"
Justine approached him pleading for help, he attempted to comfort her but she slashed him accross the throat and took Connor with her. She and Holtz imagined the life they could have with Connor because Justine was truely in love with Holtz (he may or may not have loved her at this point). They were about to drive far-far away until they were 'interrupted' by Wolfram and Hart and Angel. Angel pleaded for Connor to just be taken away in peace even if it wasn't with him. All of a sudden Sarahjhan appeared and threatened to suck them all into a dimensional portal to Quor-tan (The worst of ll hell dimensions). Holtz shoved Justine out of the way and leaped into the portal with Connor, leaving everyone else confused and befuddled. While I Quor-tan Holtz taught Steven (thats what he called Connor) of all the evil things that Angelus had done to him and how he should never trust Angelus. While in Quor-Toth Holtz learnt to love and realized that love was far more powerful that hate, it was asthough he had go a soul himself (even though he already had one). He set Steven against his own real father. Then when Steven was about 17-18ish he found a way to rip a dimensional hole back to LA. Holtz followed soon after and tried to get Connor mixing in with the Angel crew so he could hurt them more from the inside
