Life, the universes and everything
While considering the concepts of a multiverse or multiple worlds (p22 Sept p6) I wondered what caused the split: driving my car and a nearly have an accident in one world, while in a split off branch I have the accident etc..
Does the split happen at significant moments, but significant to who?
Does the split happen at regular intervals, not something as clumsy as a second but maybe every plancks length 10-35 second.
Thats an awful lot of universes splitting off at an alarmingly high rate.. so how do I deal with this?
The best I could come up with was: For every key-press as I type this, there are many many alternate universe being created. most are essentially the same, my fingers hit the same key on each, just maybe slightly up a bit in one, down a fraction in the other. But in some I completely miss the key, have to backspace and fix my mistake and wholes universes are now quite out of step with the others.
So perhaps what I experience as my single world is in fact the summed average of these many similar actions, in the same quantum way we see light reflected off a surface, we are seeing the summed average of those photons. We are such large and clunky beings we can not perceive anything more discreet. Just as well otherwise my fingers would be fussy as I type this.
