The central market (in the old town) is open for business.
buyers and sellers are flocking to the central market to trade their wares, all under the watchful eye of the fair trader.
"Its all so simple" the fair trader smiles "you just drop something in the central market, and the next person to pick it up buyes it, and I tranfer the pennies into your pocket". The trader disclosed an additional comission fee of 1 penny on each purchase so make sure you calculate that into the price shown next to an item when you list
So come one and all to the central market, sell some of those old unwanted goods or pick up a bargin before a bargin hunter gets it first!

Optimum COW is starting soon and unfortunately for you Daily COW readers, alot of us are leaving to work on it instead. This means less regular updates. If you wish to join the Daily COW team feel free to pick up your copy and squiggle in some notes.
It is May and for the world of COW things are seeming a little cold and windy. It is possible that our once serene world protected from the harsh outside is not as serene as we would have liked! The weather is seeping in slowly but surely!
There is good news for those hardworkers of COW because soon (within days) there will be a new ability to own your own shop where all the proceeds goto you!
This of course is going to lead to much money owned by everyone. Which then leads me to my final topics. There have been some recent muggings in COW and the only way to keep these newly earned riches safe will be to put them in the bank. You will just have to cling onto your purses tight for a while because the bank is not fully up and running yet...
This reporter is going off to start a chocolate factory!
News just in... in the old town there is a new central market with a trader who is there to make sure everyone gets what they deserve.
If you have anything of worth, drop it in the central market of others to pick up. when they do you will get paid.

We have many fun things happening around cow at the moment you just have to sit and watch your computer! Do it... just sit there and look... is your computer not brimming with fun and activity? Okay first, It is Josh's birthday! Finally after so long (Must've been a year at least)! He recieved many brilliant presents from all of the COW people. So thankyou all. I would also like to thank you for your donations to the aquarium. We have reached our desired amount and reconstruction will begin immediately. As you may or may not know a quest maker has been made. She is not perfect yet but hopefully soon she will stop sending you off to places that don't exist. And as for that new newspaper, you will most certainly NOT be hearing about it from us. That was our insane columnist writing the last edition (most of it was true though, surprisingly enough) and we do not like to promost our competitors. but we do have news. The editions of Optimum COW will be released weekly at a newspaper stand. But, heres the bit that makes us much better. You will have to pay! How outrageous is that!! You will be able to buy old editions for if you think you have missed something but you WILL have to pay.

As a special birthday treat for josh, we now have a quest maker in cow. You probably saw her standing in the open field. talk to the quest maker . As always, little new additions like this are just the start.. as you can imagine there will be many more enhancements and additions as time goes by.. as is its want.
Talking of time going by and rumours, I hear there may be a new newspaper starting up in cow! Im sure you will hear about it first in the daily COW.

Some strange things have been going on in cow.
You should see (somewhere on your right) a thing called ''Emergency recover''.
"This is but a simple thing that helps you look around when things dont look right in cow." said wolis
"Fell free to click if you get an error or one of your frames has not loaded properly." wolis suggested. As always if this does not help I suggest you logoff and on again.. boring but often helpful.
As for these rumours about changes to the shout command and telephones.. they are but rumours for now.
And now some facts, you will notice some wonderful items have been donated by someof our fine upstanding citizens of cow. We have not reached our target yet (mainly because the hat Jemilly donated was re-evaluated) so more donations are welcome. "mind you" mused wolis "Im sure we can repair the aquarium for less that 5000 pennies".
On a lighter note you may find some amusing new images showing up in the stranges places. Have a look in the library for some visual inspiration.
And talking of librarys may I remind you all that we have a Learning room, a room for posing questions, a hints book and a listening room. Contributions to these are also most welcome.
One hint that may not have made it into the book of hints is that you can easily make yourself a bookmark to return to a favorite location just create a bookmark object
eg: create a bookmark one
then you can hide it if you like with put it on it
Now any time you want to return to this location goto bookmark one
Think of a creative unique name for your bookmarks otherwise you may class with someone elses bookmarks.
Remember, you can use your personal notes area to record which bookmarks are where. Just remember to ''save your personal notes'' often.

In cow at the moment most of you would say nothing is happening. This is very untrue!
Wolis is working on backround stuff and very soon COW as you know it willl change. Soon there will be telephones and I know we promised this to you earlier but we didn''t have COW running as fast then. And shout won''t work as well as it does now, it will only shout in a 3-5 room radius. And hopefully there will also be a new bit which you can add at the end of your sentences which will make any command be shown to the entire world. eg. paint the fish to lime loudly. Then everyone in the world would know about your fish painting obsessities.
And some new things in COW on a more concious level. Every day more and more little quests are being created. There is several new planets now, all of which need decorating. You could try writing a story about one of these planets ti give them extra depth. You could build new things all over COW. And while you''re out and about can you please be on the lookout for a crowbar that can help Josh with his major problem!? And also any donations for the aquarium will be greatly appreciated. Together we can make COW less quiet and more homey... :)

I would like to start this column with some bad news. I don''t really want to but it is certainly necessary. Only a couple of days ago an aquarium was built in the new town. That is the good news and here comes the bad. A hoard of hooligans broke in only hours after opening. The aquarium needs your help! They are looking to fundraise 5000 pennys. Please place your donations in the donation box next to this, it doesn''t matter what you donate but anything worth anything is good. If we can all chip in this can work out.
In other news if anyone can please find a crowbar for josh to get out of his costume it would be greatly appreciated. He has fallen sick and is going to die if this costume doesn''t come off soon. It is incresing the disease growth rate! Please people pleadge your money and your time for the benifet of COW kind!

Since the introduction of the utliltarian ''dot-space'' there have been a few cowillians making good use of it in general construction or occasional chatter.
"This is all well and good" said wolis "but I want to start getting some more useful use out of it". When prodded for more information wolis described the concept of using it as a quick navigation tool. As an example, suppose you want to give someone directions to the tea room in the library you should give them start. north. go library. go tea. use kettle or maybe you want to direct someone to the web site start. north. go trail. go appliance. go computer. go web
Our little boy is growing up 17 May 2005
Resident of COW, Josh has just startes his work placement for Yr. 10. ''Why do I care'' You will be asking. The answer is a simple one. This new work has inspired him to make many exciting new places in COW (such as the museaum and the aquarium, both in the new town) and he now has all this extra time on his hands to go on COW! All in all I think this one little week could prove quite helpful for COW.
"huh? oh yes..." says wolis paying close inspection to everything that is happening around him. (NOT!).

You may not believe this devoted COW fans but tomorrow is the COW creator, Wolis'' birthday!!
WOOO!! hold the applease for just a moment because a have a few more announcements.
Clare, k8e and Josh''s birthdays are also just around the corner!! Clare''s on the 24th, k8e on the 23rd and Josh''s on the 26th!!
Okay people keep calm! We are hoping to have humungous parties on each of these days in commemoration to them or something like that but becuse of work and other commitmenments, we may not have the biggest bash in the world. At least you can try and send the four happy citizens some pressies or somethin!!
And now it is my turn to applaud, there has been sight of a crowbarlike object, able of removing cow costumes but it seems to have been stolen, if you catch sight of it please give it to someone official or just josh.

There is all of a sudden a great burst of COW activity or hopefully there will be soon! Well some of it is not all godd I must admit but at least something new is happening. Josh has had a recent crisis because the zipper on his new COW costume (you may have seen him wearing it around the place, doesn''t he look good in it?!) has broken! He just can''t get out of it! If anyone has a solution to the dilemma please contact him immediately! Now for the good news, On Saturday COW will have a party! The first big COW party ever. it will be held at 12:00 and everyone is invited. You are more than invited you are being forced to come with peer pressure! Well if you wanna... it will be fun and cake will be provided.
Keepin up with the times 10 May 2005
Its been quite slow around the Post Office these days so the postman has been working on a new piece of hi-tech equipment. An email server outbox.
"With this amazing new device cowilians can create emails to post out to people on the world wide internet computer thing" proclaimed an excited postman who is not up with the latest technical terminology. "I dont think I am clever enough to get it to recieve emails but we cant have everything".
This exciting new development opens the doors to some fun new toys which will send emails when specific events happen in cow. Think of the possibilities!!
This also leads nicely to the next new big thing to come to cow, and that is the ability to make quick links you can email people which drop them straight into cow and perform a (some) commands. This, no doubt, will be ideal for sending someone an email to show them your latest creation.
If this inspires you to some new toys we can play with in cow, just send a msg to wolis with your ideas.
Back to school! 1 May 2005
It is back to school time for some cowians and some are not happy! ME, being one of them. But that is about it! the holoidays are over for our crazy adelaide teachers and they are most likely eager to get back to school. In the fair method of payback I propose that we have a learning room in the library. All it would be if you are bored then all that would happen would be that we choose a subject (eg. eggs) you think of all the facts you know about eggs then you do a bit extra possibly. so we would all learn something! It would be a bunch of general knowledge things! SO here is the plan. You make books about topics and we read them... got that?

Feel free to drop in and add your own ideas as to why xiii has been so noticably abscent from cowland.
While you are in the Library you might want to drop into the tea room and make yourself some nice hot tea.
Or visit the explanation room and share with us some of your hard earned wisdom.
